Our love of this wonderful breed began "way back when" we had our first pet Schnauzer "Brandy", Heilandor’s Hi-Brandy. She was our best friend for 13 wonderful years. When Brandy departed to the Rainbow Bridge Vicki decided to realize a childhood dream of breeding and showing and we started our search for a foundation bitch with which to start our new hobby. We thought we had found "just the right puppy" and purchased "Tiffany", Ch. Coventry’s Shadow Chaser through a newspaper ad. We did not know that an organization called the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) existed at that time. Live and learn! Tiffany became Vicki’s learning dog. We learned how to strip coats, attended handling classes, joined the Canadian Kennel Club and entered our first dog show. 28 shows later Tiffany earned her Canadian title. Tiffany became the much loved companion to Vicki’s Mother and Father, Fran & Gus Porth.

It is our goal to continue to breed on a small basis and finish one or two Champions a year. To continue our tradition of breeding only Champions to Champions and to maintaining the quality, conformation, health and temperament of the dogs we produce as both show and pet. To encourage the responsible breeding and ownership of Miniature Schnauzers.

Hooked by the "show bug" we obtained our second show dog and our foundation bitch, Am Can Ch Annfield Neversay Never ("Angel"). Though not a prolific producer Angel provided us with two exceptional offspring which are the basis for everything that is Empire today.

Those two offspring, a dog and a bitch, are, BIS Ch. Empire’s Dorado ("Leo") and Am Can Ch Empire’s Dark Angel ("Dara").

Wanting an outcross to breed to Leo and to also bring the Black & Silver colour into our line, we imported Ch Feldmar-Empire Edge Of Night "Solo" from Marcia Feld of Illinois. Solo bred to Leo gave us Am Can Ch. Empire’s Indigo Moon CD "Indi", a beautiful dark salt & pepper bitch. Solo is loved by: Marcia Voigt
