Am Can Ch Empire’s Dark Angel ROM "Dara"

Brought out as a Senior Puppy Dara picked up most of her points on her first coat. Needing a single point to finish she was put in new coat and wisked over to Vancouver Island for 2 shows, earning her final championship point under the respected Michelle Billings (pictured right). Yes it was as windy as it looked.

Dara was bred for the first time to a CJC affected dog that we imported from California in order to clear our line of congenital juvenile cataracts. In this first litter she produced 7 beautiful bouncing babies giving her a clear rating of 99%. One bitch puppy Can Ch Empire’s cc Zodiac was retained to test-breed with Leo.

Dara’s second breeding was to the black & silver, Am Ch Jerry O’s Rain Check. This breeding produced two bitch puppies. One was retained and became Am Can Ch Empire’s Dark Star, Dara’s first dual titled Champion.

Dara’s third breeding was to Am Ch. Wy-O’s Reputation. We were delighted to have 5 beautiful puppies born. Two puppies, a male and the single female were sold to pay expenses but it was impossible to decide between the 3 remaining boys. One boy was placed in a pet home on a show/breeding contract and he became Am Can Ch Empire’s Distant Galaxy . While we were busy growing up the last two boys our friends Lenka & Jon Jakubov of Vitkov Miniature Schnauzers in the Czech Republic happened to contact us with a request for a nice male for them to breed out to and bring new lines into their country. Lenka had her choice of the two remaining males and chose Empire’s Distant Thunder. Crash flew to his new home in the Czech Republic as a 5 month old unproven puppy. The third boy from this fabulous litter became Am Can Ch Empire’s Distant Lightning.

Dara’s fourth and final breeding was to the great Am Ch Rampage’s Representative. Again, another fabulous litter of 5, this time 3 bitches and 2 males. All three bitches were retained to incorporate into our breeding program. One bitch, Ch Annfield Empire Strykes Bak "Bakkus" went to Annfield Miniature Schnauzers and was in turn placed with a new breeder Angie Doolie (Chasselas Miniature Schnauzers). Bakkus has consequently proven her worth in the show ring, finishing with group placements including a First and providing Angie with champion descendants to carry on her newly established kennel name.

A second bitch from this litter and my pick puppy was sent to Judy Hsu in Taiwan. Am Ch Empire’s Dazzling Display. Lindi has produced well for Judy and thrilled us all by earning her US conformation Champion title at 4 years of age and after whelping 3 litters. Just like her mother Dara.

The third bitch Ch Empire’s Dual Dimension was retained by Empire. Dax has to her credit 6 Champion offspring including 2 that boast of an American title as well as their Canadian ones.

Dara finished her breeding career at 4 ½ years of age a Canadian (6) and an American (3) top producing bitch with her 4th American Champion finishing November, 1999. Looking pretty darn good for a bitch that had whelped 4 litters (20 puppies), we made the decision to put her back in coat and try for that all elusive American conformation title. Vicki put the first 2 points on her and then Dara went to Brenda Combs. She quickly earned a 3 point and a 4 point major including Best of Breed and Best Opposite Sex wins over Specials. Sent home for a new coat Vicki put the final 4 points on her the following Spring.
